IPA is a colorless flow liquid under normal temperature, with ester-like aroma.
Slightly soluble in water, can be miscible with acid, ether, acetone, etc.
Melting point - 92.9 ℃, Boiling point 97 ℃, Relative density d420 0.909, Flash point 18 ℃, Refractive index hD20 = 1.4001. IPA has the chemical properties of ester and its hydrolysate is acetic acid and acetone.
IPA is a flammable chemicals, can happen burning explosion under heated or any open flame (hazardous rule no. 32132), Explosion limit 1.8 ~ 7.8%. It can cause a reaction if contact with oxidant. Its vapor density is larger than air. Current industrial application is used in fluocinolone acetonide [CAS No. 356-12-7] as solvent for the refining of fluocinolone acetonide, solvent of fluocinolone acetonide ointment.
Can be used as the electronic grade solvent in the industrial applications in other countries.
It has strong fat soluble ability, moderate boiling point and toxicity (LD50 = 3000 mg/L), etc.
